2025 Asian Young Investigator for Tuberculosis Research Award
About the Award The Asian Young Investigator for Tuberculosis Research Award was established in 2020 to acknowledge young and talented Asian researchers conducting promising work focused on tuberculosis (TB) and nontuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM) research. This year, the award will be committed to a supporting Asian researcher who has made an invaluable contribution to end TB not only in research, but also live experience under the name of the Asian Young Investigator for Tuberculosis Research Award. Through sponsorship of the Seegene Medical Foundation, prizes may be presented during the 2025 8th International Scientific Conference on “Seeking Ways to Eliminate TB in Asia” organized by the Korean National Tuberculosis Association (KNTA) and the Stop TB Partnership Korea. Details on the Award ceremony will be updated in due course.
Call for Applications The Stop TB Partnership Korea is currently accepting applications for the 2025 Asian Young Investigator for Tuberculosis Research Award until July 13 (Sun), 2025. We welcome all applications. Researchers from Asian countries that meet the eligibility criteria below and have shown a great dedication and leadership to the eradication of tuberculosis are eligible for application, except those who have been the award recipients within the previous five years as of 2025. However, the applicant should submit the applications by himself/herself with a letter of recommendation written by the National TB Programme (NTP) or the organization to which he/she belongs.
Eligibility of Applicant To be eligible for the award, the applicant must: · be an individual, · hold the citizenship of an Asian country, · be under 45 years of age at the time of application (born after January 1, 1980), · have research and/or field experience in all TB-related theme, including nontuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM), and · not have been a recipient of the Award within the previous five years as of 2025.
Application Forms Application forms can be downloaded from the official website of Stop TB Partnership Korea at https://stoptbk.org/eng2/news/bbs002/2865? . All the required applications for the Award must be submitted in English and as a package, as follows: 1. A completed application form filled out by the applicant 2. A completed list of major research publications. The publications must: - be the original articles published in the SCI(E) grade accredited international journals between May 31, 2020 and May 30, 2025. 3. A description (500 words or less) of how the applicant’s activities/engagements demonstrate excellence in TB eradication. The description should include: - an overview of the nominee’s contributions, which have made so far in the field of TB eradication, - a detailed information of the nominee’s work in the field of TB eradication, and - an explanation of the practical outcome/expected impact of the applicant’s work to his/her community and academic society. 4. A completed letter of recommendation written by the nominator(recommender) 5. A consent to the collection, use, and provision of personal information 6. Supporting documents, if any (e.g., documentation of the applicant’s activities and/or research experience, including publications, leading roles in conducting research projects and other TB programmes)

Application and Award Procedure To be considered for recognition, all completed application forms stated above, along with the supporting documents, must be submitted electronically via above email addresses by July 13 (Sun), 2025. If you have been successful in submitting your application forms, a confirmation email will be sent to you within one to two business days. All submissions will be reviewed by the Selection Committee and announcement of the winner will be made in July, 2025. Prizes may be presented at the 2025 8th International Scientific Conference, which will be held in Mongolia late August or early September this year.
Requirements for Final Winner · Attendance at the 2025 8th International Scientific Conference: final winner would be asked to attend the Conference scheduled to be held in Mongolia late August or early September 2025, to give a presentation appropriate to the Conference theme, and to participate in the Award ceremony, which is a part of the Conference programme. · Participation fees: in addition to the cash prize, round-trip tickets and accommodation will be provided for attendance at the conference
Selection Criteria The Selection Committee will use the following criteria to assess the applications: · Applicant’s Research Capacity (60 points out of 100) - Corresponding Author 100%, Co-corresponding Author 50%, First Author 80%, Co-first Author 40% · Applicant’s Activities/Engagements, shown a great dedication and leadership to eradicate tuberculosis (40 points out of 100) - The extent of suitability of purpose/goals of the applicant’s activities/engagements - The extent to which the goals are achieved, the extent of the output (including quantifiable data such as the scope/number of recipients from his/her activities/engagements), and the extent of the impact of the activities/engagements on progress towards TB elimination - The extent of initiative/activeness of the nominee’s activity performance - The extent of scientific/technical expertise of the nominee exhibited - The extent of sustainability of performing the activities/engagements going forward - The extent of possibility of institutional and/or technical application of the applicant’s activities/engagements - The extent of potential possibility of collaboration with the applicant based on his/her activities/engagements
Prizes Prizes consist of: · a full fellowship to attend the conference including his/her travel, accommodation and per diem (If the forum is virtual, travel, accommodation and per diem will not apply), · an award of KRW 10,000,000 and a certificate. * This prize may be paid to the winner's checking account after deducting overseas remittance charges and taxes and dues, and the US dollar exchange rate at the time of prize award will be applied.
